Downtown Phoenix has come a long way — it’s now the Valley’s hub for art, food, sports, and nightlife, all walkable and tied together by the light rail. Here’s the short version of what to do.
Roosevelt Row (RoRo)
The Roosevelt Row arts district is the creative heart of downtown — murals on nearly every wall, indie galleries, coffee shops, bars, and boutiques. It’s best on foot.
First Fridays
On the first Friday of each month, downtown throws one of the largest self-guided art walks in the country. Galleries open late, the streets fill with makers and food trucks, and RoRo is the center of it.
Food, sports & shows
- Dining — from James Beard–nominated kitchens to taco spots and rooftop bars.
- Sports & concerts — Chase Field (Diamondbacks) and Footprint Center (Suns, Mercury, concerts) are both downtown.
- Museums — the Arizona Science Center and Heritage Square anchor the east side.
Skip the parking stress
Take the light rail in — it runs straight through downtown and saves you the event-night garage crawl.
Look the part
Downtown is where our clients go when they want their hair done — First Fridays, dinner reservations, a show. We’re about 25 minutes north in North Phoenix, so book a blowout or a fresh color earlier in the day, then head down. Reserve ahead for weekend evenings.
